A synagogue (from Greek: συναγωγή transliterated synagogē, meaning "assembly"; בית כנסת beyt knesset, meaning "house of assembly"; בית תפילה beyt t'fila, meaning "house of prayer"; שול shul; אסנוגה esnoga; קהל kal) is a Jewish house of prayer.
