Rules

Common

• Absolutely no impersonation of staff members.
• No attempts to circumvent any protections on the server, including but not limited to the server script, LWC(Chest protection), WorldGuard(Block protection), and GriefAlert. Attempts to do so without permission will result in a ban without appeal.
• Invisible or glitched players may have their data reset without warning.
• No sharing of illegal content.
• No blatant sexism, racism, or hate speech targeted at specific users.
• No griefing, including but not limited to: destroying blocks placed by other players, flooding structures, spamming items, leaving inappropriate signs on others’ structures, destroying plants (none of these apply to chaos)
• No "grief-baiting". This means that players cannot try to get other players in trouble by tricking/forcing them to destroying structures in an attempt to get the player warned or banned. This will fall under our umbrella "Don't be a dick." rule and will (if abused enough) result in a ban.
• No placing banned items (banned items are specific to each server)
• Players blatantly using modifications to change gameplay may be asked to stop, kicked, or banned with little warning. This includes, but is not limited to: flying, noclip, invincibility, speed, and duping hacks.
• Don't be a dick (the staff reserves the right to mess with dicks...in a completely asexual and extremely self-depriving yet generous way)
• No trolling in chat (Don’t spam the chat with useless twaddle)
• You are responsible for your own account. If your account is used by someone else for griefing the server in any way, it will be banned. Please do not message the moderators with the excuse that someone else used your account. We have no way to verify this, and as such, it will not be tolerated as an excuse.
• If you are banned under one account you cannot play on other accounts on the server while the ban is still in effect. Caught playing on alt accounts while your main account is banned will result in your alt accounts being permanently banned.
• Any rules placed at spawn on the servers supersede the rules here as they will generally be more up-to-date.
• Please respect all players. Blatant harassment of the staff, or any one else, can result in a kick or a ban.
• Please don’t complain about lag or server restarts. It’s a fact of life, our technical admins are constantly working to smooth the experience, and it gets annoying. They do their best to prevent rollbacks. Since they are working for zero profit and yet give us such a nice set of servers and/or playing experience please treat the techies like the majestic beasts they are.
• Do not spam /modreq (mod requests) with silly requests or things which cannot/do not need to be resolved by staff.
• No offensive or inappropriate skins. Failure to change when asked by a mod will result in a ban until it is changed.
• No NSFW constructions (e.g. giant phallic buildings).

PvE

• Banned Items:
  • Fire (flint and steel)
  • TNT
  • Boats
  • Water and Lava Buckets
    • If you need water or lava placed please make a /modreq
• All placed banned items (water, lava, etc) must be protected by a moderator after they are placed.
• Buckets are for milk only
• Redstone mechanisms and dispensers may be removed at moderator discretion; abuse of these may result in a ban
• No killing other players with any means. This includes, but is not limited to: Dropping lava on or around them, dropping blocks on them, or pushing them and forcing them to fall. Additionally, no traps designed to kill other players.
• The current PvE map is very beautiful but also very height-disadvantaged for players. As such we will warn/kick players who continuously build what are known as 'tard-towers' (towers that are only a single block wide) that tarnish the landscape. If you wish to reach floating islands or higher elevations please at least add ladders to these sorts of towers or create stairs. Be respectful of the map and do not mar the experience or view for other players.
• Don't Build any structure within 40-50 blocks from any StarGates.
• Large unique trees such as redwoods and acacias do not regrow, and may be part of an individual or community's landscaping. Destruction of said landscaping constitutes griefing, so if there is any doubt whatsoever as to the state of these trees, do not cut them down.
• Grinders need registering in the grinder room under spawn. They are portals for mods only, admins need to make them.
• Grinders must be protected and have an incinerator (destroys drops when no one is using, like cactus or lava)

Survival

Common

• No attempting to place or use banned items (List of banned items below).
• You are responsible for your own account. Anything that is done on your account will be viewed as done by you, and will be treated as such.
• No ban evasion via the use of other accounts.
• Please don’t complain about lag or server restarts. It’s a fact of life, our technical admins are constantly working to smooth the experience, and repeated complaints get annoying.
• Do not spam chat or abuse commands.
• No advertising of non-nerd.nu servers.
• No NSFW constructions (e.g. giant phallic buildings, swastikas).
• Admins reserve the right to resolve land disputes in a manner they deem appropriate.
• Within 500 blocks of spawn, please do not create:
  • Mob Grinders
  • Auto-harvesting Farms
  • Redstone Loops

Banned Items

• Fire (Flint and Steel).
• TNT.
• Boats.
• Lava and Water Buckets (Lava will be placed at the discretion of the mod handling the request. Admins reserve the right to remove any lava deemed excessive.)

Hacking

• No attempts to circumvent any protections on the server, including but not limited to the server script, LWC(Chest protection) and WorldGuard(Block protection). Attempts to do so without permission will result in a ban without appeal.
• Players using modifications to change gameplay may be asked to stop, kicked, or banned with little or no warning depending on the severity of the situation. This includes, but is not limited to: flying, speed modifications, xray/ore-detection, player radars, and duping hacks.
• No use of bugs or exploits to gain an advantage over other players (eg: item duping).

Social

• Please respect all players. Harassment of the staff, or any one else, can result in a kick or a ban.
• No sexism, racism, homophobia or any type of hate speech.
• No offensive or inappropriate skins. Failure to change when asked by a mod will result in a ban until it is changed.

PvP

• No removing blocks from others' structures to enter them unless it is to engage in PvP. Any modifications made to a base must be fixed ASAP. Players involved should not engage in combat while repairs are being made.
• No spawn camping.
• Using login as a function of PvP is not allowed. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Logging off while engaged in combat.
  • Relogging to gain an advantage such as invulnerability for PvP or to prevent fall damage while being chased.
  • Timing logins to attack players at specific locations.
  • Playing with multiple accounts to give yourself a PvP-related advantage
  • Users who do any of these may get warned by a mod or kicked/banned by an admin.
• No use of LWC-locked blocks for the purpose of base defense or personal protection. LWC should be used to protect the items within them, nothing else.
• Anything unlocked may be looted. You are not to take someones unlocked block(griefing), nor lock it, but you may take the contents within.

Banning policy

However, during certain times the server can be very busy, and depending on reason for the ban, you may not be warned. In situations where the player is significantly changing the game environment, they may be banned without any warning.
• You may appeal bans by following the appeals process at: http://nerd.nu/appeal
• If you are banned, please do not make a subreddit post or it may be removed & ignored.
• Lifting bans is done entirely at the discretion of the mods / admins, and conditions may be imposed if a ban is lifted.

Chaos

• Banned Items: None
• No rules, except the common server rules (minus griefing). No hacking or client mods, specifically.
• Admins reserve the right to clean up anything making the game unplayable, including making spawn inescapable by any means.

Mumble/IRC/Nerd.nu Forums

• No “spamming” in the mumble with loud or generally annoying noises
• For Mumble you may be asked to put on push to talk, if a player fails to do so he may be moved to the channel “Turn On Push to Talk”. If a player repeatedly joins a channel and causes problems he or she may be kicked or even banned.
• No blatant sexism, racism, or hate speech targeted at specific users.
• Excessive trolling in general will not be tolerated and may result in a ban from the forum, mumble, or even the nerd.nu servers.
