Donations
Nerd.nu was founded in 2009 on the concept of fair play and the idea that when it comes to gaming, everyone should start with equal footing — and after almost eight years of operation, we haven't strayed from these important values. Many online gaming services allow users to pay for in-game perks or specialized access, but here at Nerd we firmly believe that money should be given not for the in-game rewards it might bring, but as a way of showing your appreciation for and supporting the costs of the services we provide.
By contributing to nerd.nu, you will be helping to pay for the hardware our servers are run on. We'd like to encourage you to contribute whatever amount you feel comfortable with. No matter what amount you choose, all contributions are greatly appreciated.
Miscellaneous Info
We are trying something totally different this year instead of the normal CTF event. We'd love your feedback after the event is over - what did you like/dislike etc. Keep an eye out for a forum post after the event where you can share your feedback with us!
- This years fundraiser will be taking place August 4th through August 6th 2017 on event.nerd.nu
- As in previous years, all other servers will be disabled for the duration of the event so you can fully enjoy the experience with everyone!
- Servers will be taken down around 8pm EDT Friday followed by event server opening up to everyone!
- Normal gameplay on the servers will resume Sunday evening.
- The event server comes with a custom resource pack, If you do not wish to download on entry you can manually download it here and run it locally. Its not required but very highly suggested otherwise you'll lose some of the fun! Only a handful of items have been altered to enhance gameplay, you can still use your normal resource pack (if any) for most everything else.
Commands
The following commands can be used at any time during the fundraiser:
/warp lobby
- Allows you to travel directly to the event lobby from your current location
There is a 5s delay on this command to prevent abuse/warp carnival
- Allows you to travel directly to the Carnival spawn from your current location
There is a 5s delay on this command to prevent abuse/warp city
- Allows you to travel directly to the Apocalypse world from your current location
There is a 5s delay on this command to prevent abuse/modreq <message>

The Apocalypse

You will spawn in the heart of a giant city, surrounded by skyscrapers and mountains. There's nothing left of civilization except their left-over buildings and .... their corpses. Zombies roam the streets, and they've gotten smarter.....can you survive?
Info
- The Apocalypse map is 3000x3000 (centered at about -20k x -20k to avoid breaking minimaps)
- This is the only world that allows building.
- All portals are disabled
- The zombies that inhabit the city are smart. Even smarter than you'd think. They'll try everything they can think of to reach you within your base, from pillaring to building down from above, to breaking through walls!
- Certain blocks will give you a better chance of surviving their attacks. Obsidian will hold them at bay, but everything will give in to them eventually. Build wisely.
Goals
- Survive - This post-apocalyptic world contains monsters stronger and smarter than normal. It's going to be harder to survive than your typical first night.
- Rescue Villagers - Villagers will randomly spawn in the world, catch them (by clicking on them) and run them back to spawn to save them! But be careful, your villager can be stolen if you're not fast enough!!! For every saved villager you will receive a token (proof of rescue) as well as a prize! The players with the most rescues at the end of the event will have their achievements displayed in the lobby!
- Build a Base - You will not have to fight eachother during the event but you WILL have to fight off hoards of the undead. Build yourself a base to protect yourself from the zombie hoards! Screenshots will be taken after the event and put up for the community to vote on their favorites!
- Other Stats will be collected during the event with a follow up post after the event with tallies!
Weapons
Available for purchase from a totally-not-shady villager in the Ticket Tent, you'll have some nifty weapons available to you for the duration of the event!!
- The Sawed-off Shotgun
A short barreled shotgun that someone literally hacked the end off of. Terrible aim but what can you do in a pinch.- To shoot: right click
- To reload: right click when the gun is empty and it will automatically reload
- Shoots "Shotgun Shells"
- Tips: The shotgun is best at close-range dispersal. It shoots 9 shots at a time to damage a large area of enemies. The aim gets worse the farther away you are, but close up does quite a bit of damage.
- The Handgun of Handiness
A standard pistol that shoots bullets, pretty accurate if you're crouching and does extra damage if you shoot your enemy in the back or get them with a headshot.- To shoot: right click
- To reload: right click when the gun is empty and it will automatically reload
- Shoots "Bullets"
- Tips: Crouch while using this gun to negate the knockback effect. Also, getting a headshot will double the amount of damage you're dealing and almost always one-shot a zombie. Accuracy is best at mid-range.
- The Huntsman Rifle
A bolt action rifle with a night vision scope. Great for sniping zombies from afar, and does double damage on headshots.- To shoot: right click
- To reload: right click when the gun is empty and it will automatically reload
- Shoots "Huntsman Shells"
- Tips: Left click while holding the gun to activate the Nightvision Scope (this will turn off automatically on reload). Not great for close-combat (also sadly you wont be able to interact with blocks while holding it so no running through doors), but really good at picking off zombies from a distance.

The Ticket Tent
Some games in the carnival will award tickets that can be used to obtain gear and materials to bring back to the city. Any time you trade with a villager in the Ticket Tent your traded item will be sent DIRECTLY to your end chest so make sure your end chest has space for your trades - if your chest is full the trade will be refused by the villager.
