Origin

the_technocrat originally started playing Minecraft in Alpha v1.1.2_01 on October 2, 2010.

This version was after the Sneaky Saturday update, which added Shift-sneak walking, fishing rods & paintings (not item frames)
3 weeks before the 2010 Halloween Update which added the Nether, Pumpkins, Clocks, Biomes & Fish.

Rail System

For thousands of blocks in the 4 cardinal directions, these rail lines were laid out with booster carts and booster cart stations every 1000 blocks or so.

Secret Base in the mountains

This base contained one of the server's first mob grinders (passive and hostile), as well as one of its first cobblestone generators. The entrance and return to rail line were so well hidden, it was never found.

Reddit PvE mid-R5 (mid-Oct 2011 to 2011-11-18)

Island Farm

Originally meant to resemble Venice, [this facility] built in the last month of PvE R5. The lack of any silk touch tools led to a weeks-long grass bridge attempt that was never completed in time.

Island Farm

Originally meant as a self-sustained farming island in the ocean, [this facility] was used by many ocean-going travellers for free food. An extensive mining system under the seafloor contained a zombie grinder and many seafloor entrances.

Reddit PvE R7 (2012-02-19 to 2012-05-18)

Island Farm

Originally meant as a self-sustained farming island in the wilderness, [this facility] was abandoned after a few weeks of development when a large highway was built next to it. Packed up any materials of value and randomly headed to the wilderness in search of a new home.
